Hi Folks,
My fiancee is a MS student and currently has student loan in India being charged at 13.5%. I am wondering if there is any loan that i can get here with a lower interest rate to repay off the one in india.
I would appreciate any pointers or suggestions here.

watch out for the offes inthe mail for LIFE TIME balance transfers. generally you could call them and negotiate the APR they offer, based on my experience.
BUt keep in mind, b4 U jump in to all this banks here CAN rescind the offer anytime for any reason (when you are late even one month, etc) although there was a law that has passed recently by Obamas administration that they gave more protection to consumers.
lastly crunch some numbers, i know 13 % is high but at the same time its in Rupees Vs Dollars, so do some number crunching of intersest payment in dollards Vs rupees...good luck

I called USCIS customer service number and asked If I can speak to that specific adjudicator customer rep directed the call to another Officer and that lady understood the issue and mentioned that I should have called before i saw denial notice she might have helped by reviewing the decision made by adjudicators but now is too late and asked me to follow the steps mentioned on denial notice which is appeal.

Can I file for a second labor while working on EAD / AP? I guess my question really is: Can i file for another labor under EB2 to expedite my priority date? It is partly true. You get stuck in name check , somebody get stuck at I-140, All in all this whole system is purposefully created to keep doors locked "legallly". The first and foremost question should be how the hell government has decided 140000 visas not 40000 and not 240000 but only 140000 and why the hell discrimination against people from only 4 countries?
Infact employment based immigration is for sufficing the need of the market then let market decides what immigration numbers should be set as ceiling... If US economy need 7 milion in year 2007, ceiling should be 7 million and next year US market may need only 7000 then for that year ceiling should be 7000. I believe if they may freshen up the whole EB GC mess with starting restructuring based on this concept then only in future we can expect flawless legal immigration...
Who and what will be used to decide the market need? If this is like what you said, what will happen to those 7 million in the next year where market need is only 7000? Does this mean many of them will be laid off or sent back? Does USCIS hire more people during the 7 million year and lay them off in the next year? I asked her if it is change of address they sent she is not sure but she said usually it is the card when Current Status: is "Document mailed to applicant."

No it is not dead as i am still renewing my EAD with the same company. My H1 was denied as USCIS was asking about the client info after my project was over.

I believe i am right when I say that one can work on an expired H1b visa provided his/her extension (I129) is pending approval!! Please correct me if wrong.

Just want to say that the public's opinion is already visible in the "public's" choices -- I mean, it is the US public after all that is refusing to study science and engineering! ;-)

You are very correct. For them immigration issue means, family based greencard system. They will be happy if EB greencard is eliminated so that all greencards are given to their families.
My friend contacted such organization and they said that they will help us by putting our issue on their website. For that I should ask IV to contribute to their cause. They refused to contribute anything or do anything for IV. They said that by putting IV's name on their site, they are doing us a favor by enhancing our profile and that is a big help. I am now repulsed by such ABCDs.
This is so much in contrast to hispanic orgs or Irish orgs or jewish orgs who care for their people.

Things were not so tough for them as compared to us and we are competitive. They hate us for being competitive so they influence the law makers and the results is obvious EB green card is 10% and FB system is bringing in 60%. They take advantage of the the H1b system to live on us and influence the policies making it tougher.
We are better off not seeking their help, but if people think otherwise, go for it. A lot of these organizations are formed for convinience and self interest and they really do not have any interest in the community as a whole.
Take example of ATA and TANA. ATA is called American telugu Association and TANA is called Telugu association of North America. They say ATA is for Reddys and TANA is for Khammas.
Look at the Gujjus. They are strongly bound their community only. Look at all the Tamil sangams, Kannada Sangams, ......

Nothing to get excited about. As far as I know, USCIS definition of backlog does not include cases waiting for visa number availability...But surely, this will be a great relief for people whose dates have been current for a long time but for some reason USCIS has put their cases under admin processing...

People do not earn Ph.D. for money. A Ph.D. gives you prestige and you literally stand tall in the crowd for the rest of your life. People call you 'Dr.', which has more value than anything. Most importantly faculties NEVER lose their jobs once they are tenured......NEVER. There is NOTHING in this universe that can fire a Professor (excepting criminal offenses, academic dishonesty etc.). They never fear that their employer will ill treat them, not pay them, yale at them etc. etc. It takes years of blood and sweat (and intelligence) to earn a Ph.D. Society treats them with reputation and not no mention they live a peaceful life (professionally) throughout their lives.

arent aggresive about it and are fine with EB2. Patience is a virtue all PhDs

However not many Phd are awarded each year and the impact wont be much. STEM Masters/PhD along with using of unused previous quota will
make a significant impact.

they want to pass. Allowing this to pass leaves the most politically toxic waste to be left behind for CIR.

- After u got asylum, did u ever go back to Indonesia ?
- Did u give them ur bank account statement copy in US ?

My parents went to request for visitor visa for a second time. They got rejected again. This time only my parents applied, without my brothers. They showed the VO a letter stating reasons why they won't immigrate to the US (have 3 sons in Indonesia, taking care of elderly parent and have business & properties in Indonesia). The letter also stated that parents only want a short duration visa just to attend my wedding. All questions VO asked was about me, that I got asylum and didn't come back. Now I really don't know what to do. Should I include a notarized letter from me stating that I will make sure my parents go back to Indonesia within the allowed time? My parents don't have the intention to immigrate but I don't know how they can convince the VO.

I just called and found out that System at Texas Center has some problem. I confirmed my petition. I was told by immigration officer that they are processing for I-140, January 2006 right now.

So both cases are now current, which leads to a couple of options for AOS:
1. File based on approved EB3 (and risk a potential retrogression in future)
2. File based on pending EB2 140 before it is approved (and risk potential RFE, etc. and who knows if it would be too late to revert to the EB3)
The other option is to upgrade the EB2 140 to PP, but could you please list the relative merits of the above two options?

Corporations save more than 10K.. It doesn't work..
Average cost of employment in US for high tech is around 90$ per hour and social security
percentage is 6%, So the max is less than 10K per year or less than 0.5 USD per hour.
These companies actually pay far less than 90$ for offshore resources..
Since it really doesn't work, it has high chances of passage into bill :rolleyes: and president will promptly sign it before this session recesses.. :cool:
It will also be passed in an unanimous consent by both parties..

Reid has the option to set up a procedural vote next week
