I also like your self portrait drawing! I like to sketch with pen and ink or pencil myself. I have seen some great entries so far! :)

Is he EB-3 India, His PD is not even current. He must have ported to EB2..I guess..
Yes, A colleague case is similar to yours. Got his "Welcome" mail via USPS, Online status still show as pending, but only difference, his case is EB3, not EB2. I-485 filed during the July rush, both the primary applicant and the spouse got the welcome notice via USPS mail. LUD seems to be in August sometime. The online status is not really reliable. Still shows as case received and pending. PD is July '04. He is not sure, and his consulting his attorney, if any action required on his side. Not sure, this is a exception or more cases like this.

Not a bad idea. No need to bring up all the talk (from other threads) about interim GC or whatever. Just a 10 year validity on EADs and APs for retrogressed categories. If nothing, it'll atleast highlight the situation (and save me $340 + $305 = $645 every year)

While filing for my wife's G-325A form, her last name was filled in first name and first name as last name. We got our FP notice yesterday and thats when I went back and reviewed all the forms I filed. I was wondering if any of you know what can be done so that an honest mistake can be corrected?

If this happens it will be a bad news as given environment I 140 approval takes years . Very soon there will be a backlog in I 140 stage.. They are just swaping backlog from one stage to another..
So how can we influence them through this 'public commenting' period? Would that make any change at all?

According to my knowledge, going back to F-1 is your best bet. The reason is whether u are legal in the country or not while ur H1 application is pending is decided by USCIS by approving change of status. If they don't u will be out of status, u have to leave the country and come back. but if you r on f-1, u'll be in legal status all the time. Just make sure, u transfer ur SEVIS I-20 before 60-day OPT grace period expires. Then, u'll be able to avoid worst case scenarios of being out of status in case ur H-1 is approved but change of status is not.

I agree, if you have applied for I-485, F1 is not a good idea. I wasn't aware of the OP's GC situation.
Editing post: It seems that the OP applied for I-140 late last year, and the country of chargeability is India (public profile). So, in this case, F1 is probably a better bet.

Major advantages of F1 would be
1. Possible on-campus 20hr work authorization and later OPT authorization.
2 Chances of getting assistanceship.
So it's not black and white..

Just becuase the lawyer says "it can be done" (read: pay now and we will see what USCIS will say later) I am not necessarily going to believe in that ...

I received my H-1B approval for one year but my I-797 arrived without an I-94....
The notice also states that approved I-129 has been sent to Hyderabad Consulate upon request.
Can someone provide some insight on how to proceed and what are the options? Is there a chance to obtain authorisation by re-entering through a POE? What does this mean to my future in the states. Please clarify.
You need to leave the US and return showing the new approval notice. You may be able to just go to Canada or Mexico (depending on those countries' immigration rules) and return showing the old H-1B visa and the new approval. You should do this ASAP because you have been out of status for quite a while now.

I would call it expensive mistake.
The child has to apply for immigrant visa as follow-to-join, unless, of course, if child is still eligible for H4 visa. In that case, he/she can file for I-485 in the US if the PD is still current.

The civil surgeon's signature on the supplement Form to I-693 submmitted with your application to adjust status is photocopy and is therefore unacceptable.Your original Supplement Form to I-693 is hereby returned to you in the enclosed sealed envelope.Take this letter and your enlclosed Supplemental Form I-693 to the civil surgeon who administered your vaccinations.ONLY THE CIVIL SURGEON SHOULD OPEN THE SEALED ENVELOPE.The civil surgeon must verify that he or she completed the Supplemental Form to I-693 and place it in a sealed envelope before returning it to you.
